Those Ah Ha moments!

Oh Henry, what is there to say about you today little bubba. When I dropped him off at school today, the ladies made the comment, "He always has a smile on his face!". That pretty much sums up my Henry. When life has you down, sometimes it's important to take a step back and look at things through a child's eyes.

I recently lost my job at the dental office through a series of very unfortunate events culminating in an email the day after Henry got out of the hospital. Sometimes it seems when life couldn't get any worse it does. I have been fretting over lost wages, trying to reorganize our lives, and still maintaining the day to day operations of the Schulte household. I know that Henry can sense my frustration at times, but when he takes his little hands and holds my face in them and gives me the best kisses ever, it feels like things are going to be OK.

Toddlers are some of the most facinating creatures on earth! They have these amazing ah ha moments, and I feel so blessed to get to see a glimpse of these special times. God has given us a new outlook on life, and it's maybe what we needed. It's not the having in life that's important, it's the people that fill us up with their love that matters in the end. Thank you to all of those special people, you know who you are. And thank you Henry, your mama is learning more from you then I feel I could ever teach you.
Henry giving some of his special kisses to Lucy.

Paging Dr Krell

Henry finally eating something. RICE! You can see where his IV is all taped up and stinted so he won't bend his arm. Try explaining that to a 20 month old!
You can see the pack and play behind Henry. They ran out of cribs. Need less to say him and mama slept in bed together. It was interesting!

Daddy, Henry, and his balloons from the Krogman's. Thanks guys! They made his day...

Henry FINALLY taking a nap on daddy. He was such an exhausted little bubba!

Never did I think Matt and I would be celebrating our 7th Valentine's Day together quit like we did this year. My sweetest little bubba, Henry, was admitted Saturday with dyhdration, vomitting, and diahrea. He had to spend the night at the hospital hooked up to IV fluids. It was quit the experience as the anthestisialogist (not sure on the spelling) couldn't find a vein and had to dig around in my poor little guys arm for quit some time. There were 3 other toddlers admitted from Friday night to Saturday when we got there and during that time three babies were born. It was quit the weekend in Vermillion.

Henry is recovering well at home for now. His CO2 count was still low, but Dr Krell, Henry's pediatrican, said we could go home and try to get the levels back up ourselves. We are headed back to see him tomorrow morning to run some more labs.

I do have to say, after this whole ordeal, I look at my baby a little differently. I hold him just a little closer and hug his just a little harder. He was my brave soldier and did so well despite the circumstances. I also look at my husband a little differently too. Despite arguments we may have over life, finances, and the assorted purchases, we really came together for our son and did everything we had to in order to make him comfortable and get his healthy. Happy Valentine's to the most amazing father any boy could have:)! I love you...

I'm a big boy now!

Happy Valentine's Day to Henry bubba from Grandma Linda! Folks, he's got his own table for two now complete with a sturdy table and chairs. Lots of hours of fun are to be had at this location.
Enjoy how clean and neat it looks because I have a feeling it won't remain this stark white for long. I wonder if it can hold a mama or a daddy? On second thought, maybe we don't have to try that just yet! Anyways to you grandma, your bubba is excited to see you and play play play:)!!!

New happenings....

Things have been interesting in the Schulte household over the last few weeks. Henry is beginning to communicate with words that include whole sentences, he is sitting at the big kid table, and is learning to drink out of a big boy cup. The biggest change of all has been his new daycare! Never in my life did I ever think that Henry would go to a daycare center, but thanks to my great friend Jacy, we found the perfect place for Henry to grow, learn new things, and get to interact with more kids his age. He is still going part-time, but he will get to transition to pre-school in the same facility.
I have been in knots over this decision. It's so hard to know if you are making the right choice until you look back on it 6 months or a year from now, and can say, yes, this was the right decision, or what the heck was I thinking. My little boy is growing up so fast! He loves his new center and doesn't turn back to check on me once he's in there, he's full throttle with the other kids. It's so comforting to know that, at least at this point, Matt and I are raising an independant, self-reliant kid who easily adapts to any situation. Still wondering if this is my kid?:) HAHAHA...his mama sure isn't quit like that:)
Lucy LOVES to be around Henry, but they definitely argue like brother and sister. I find him scolding her and tell her to get back and no lick. It is completely adorable.
Henry is always very worried about the puppies me-milk. He's gotta make sure that I know it's there and they need it. P.S. We add water to the dogs food since it sits outside, the food is cold, and no they don't get whole milk. HAHA...
